Career Counseling for Non-Students

UCCS has designed a career counseling package that will help you adopt a strategic approach to increasing your professional satisfaction. Completing this systematic self-examination can help you create a plan that capitalizes on your strengths, identifies areas for development, and structures your career planning.

The package consists of five phases:

  1. Analyzing your present strengths
  2. Anticipating changes in your work environment
  3. Clarifying your ideal job and roles
  4. Identifying developmental goals needed to remain marketable
  5. Creating a short- and long-term action plan to help reach your goals

After an initial meeting with a counselor to set individualized goals, you will complete a series of career inventories. Our approach uses the most sophisticated psychometric tools available to set a foundation for your personal and professional planning.

The array of possible inventories includes the:

  • Career Factors Inventory
  • Career Attitudes and Strategies Inventory
  • Strong Interest Inventory
  • Campbell Interest and Skill Survey
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator: Expanded Analysis Report
  • California Psychological Inventory
  • Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior (FIRO-B)
  • Minnesota Importance Questionnaire

Completing this systematic self-examination allows you to create a strategic plan that capitalizes on your strengths, identifies areas for development, and structures your career planning. Action contracts will be used to identify the next steps needed to increase personal satisfaction and professional viability.
