Personal Concerns Counseling

Many of the students who come for counseling are experiencing normal college student stress. Some students are experiencing more serious concerns such as depression and anxiety. All students are invited and encouraged to seek personal counseling regardless of how serious or normal they perceive their concerns to be.

What can I expect if I come in for Personal Concerns Counseling?

  • You will get an opportunity to speak with a trained professional about your concerns
  • Your counselor will help you understand your feelings and look at options for addressing your concerns.
  • If you are not sure why you are feeling badly or having difficulties your counselor can help you define and understand your concerns more completely
  • Your counselor will not tell you what to do or make you do anything you do not want to
  • You and your counselor will develop goals to work towards and your counselor will help you meet those goals.
  • Your conversation with your counselor will be confidential*

According to our client satisfaction surveys more than 8 out of every 10 students who seek our counseling services report meeting some or all of their counseling goals and 99% of students surveyed would recommend UCCS to a friend.

UCCS offers short-term counseling designed to address your real-life concerns. If you and your counselor feel that you would benefit from longer-term therapy your counselor can help you find resources offering such services.
